Description:
Purple Majesty ornamental millet looks equal parts ornamental grass and corn
plant, but it's suffused with rich purple from top to bottom. Many strap-like
leaves arch gracefully from the strong central stems, which grow 4 to 5 feet
tall. The purple foliage is lovely on its own, but the striking flower spikes
are a crowning glory. The footlong, densely packed flower spikes look like cattails
dipped in grape juice. Purple Majesty makes a striking addition to cut flower
bouquets. If left to mature on the plant, the spikes provide seed for birds
in fall. All-America Selections committee picked it as a 2003 winner.
Care:
This plant will need full sun to develop its deep purlple foliage. This one
is very easy to grow.
